Today, Gustavo Kuerten and Magnus Norman met again and the three-time French Open champion Kuerten prevailed with a 6-1, 5-7, 6-3 victory at the Mallorca Open. It was Kuerten's second victory of the season, following his 6-2, 6-3 triumph over Nikolay Davydenko in his opening match. In the 2000 French Open final, Kuerten defeated Norman 6-2, 6-3, 2-6, 7-6. The former No. 2 Norman played through qualifying to reach the main draw where he downed Mariano Albert 6-3, 6-4 to earn his second ATP main draw victory of the season set up a marquee match against the three-time French Open champion. It was Norman's advice that contributed to Kuerten's decision to undergo arthroscopic surgery on his right hip on February 26th in Nashville.
