| Welcome to Magnus Mania, a website dedicated to Magnus Norman. 2001 has been a disappointing season for Norman and many of his fans. This was mainly due to injuries throughout the year and lack of confidence. He advanced only to 2 finals, losing both times, and won a total of 25 single matches. This is a poor number compared to more than 60 wins and five trophies in 2000. If this is the first time you've
visited this website, please come again as I will always be updating it.
Because of all your support, I can continue to develop this
website. DID U KNOW? It was Norman's advice that contributed to Kuerten's decision to undergo arthroscopic surgery on his right hip on February 26th in Nashville. Dr. Thomas Byrd performed the surgery on both Kuerten and Norman, who had the surgery last August Updates: (28/5/02) - new French Open 2002 gallery - new diary entries by Magnus himself from www.magnusnorman.com LATEST: A CLOSE MATCH! (28/5/02) Magnus once again exits Roland Garros in the opening round for the second consecutive year, losing to Frenchmen Santoro in five sets, the match lasting for 4 hours. Although I didn't watch the match on TV, I knew Magnus had fought a great match, despite of the horrible conditions in Paris. However, he had 90 unforced errors, compared to Santoro's 65. Nors was actually down 4-0 in the fifth set, but he made a great comeback and made it to 4-3. It was pity he couldn't win. Although he lost, this match should have given him a lot of confidence, since it proves that he can play long matches and his injury is not affecting him too much. see photos MAGNUS MEETS SANTORO IN THE OPENING ROUND (24/5/02) One of the biggest tournament of the year is coming up! The French Open starts on Monday, May 27th, and Nors will be facing the 23rd seed Fabrice Santoro in the first round. They have met five times, and Magnus has only lost once. The last time they met was in the Australian Open 2001, and Magnus was victorious. Let's wish him the best of luck, and hope hell be healthy throughout the tournament!
MAGNUS TO PLAY FOR SWEDEN (17/5/02) Magnus will be representing Sweden in the Arag World Team Cup, starting on Sunday, May 19th. He played this tournament last year too, but was winless. Sweden will first face Argentina, who have very strong clay court players. This will be the first time Norman has played since Rome, where he was forced to withdrew. Let's hope the injury will not affect him too much, and he'll eventually win some matches! MAGNUS FORCED TO WITHDRAW (7/5/02) Norman made a great start to the match, winning the first set 6-2, and leading 2-1 in the second. But unluckily, he was forced to withdraw due to a calf strain in his left leg. This must be a painful loss for Magnus and I hope the injury doesn't effect him next week in TMS Hamburg. I was actually watching the live scores on the internet before I went to school, and the score was 6-2, 2-1. I actually thought he was going to win it, what a pity! NORMAN MEETS ENQVIST (4/5/02) After meeting Johanson in the opening round of TMS Monte Carlo, Magnus once again meets a close friend of his, Thomas Enqvist in Rome. Nors has a great chance of winning since Thomas has not done too well in the clay-court season, losing in the opening matches in Barcelona and TMS Monte Carlo. We wish him all the best!
MAGNUS IS DEFEATED (2/5/02) In the second round, Guga was the one who proved to be stronger, by defeating Magnus in three sets, 6-1, 5-7, 6-3. It was a great effort by Nors when he won the second set from an 0-4 defecit, but was unable to win the match. The next tournament will be TMS Rome, where Nors won it back in 2000. This is a very important tournament to him, and hope he'll get a good draw MAGNUS WINS! (30/4/02) This is rilly great news to all Magnus fans because he has won a match again by defeating qualifier Mariano Albert of Spain in the opening round in straight sets 6-3, 6-4. This means there will be a Roland Garros 2000 final re-match against Kuerten! Good luck Nors, and hope to see some good news! THE DRAW IS OUT! Sorry for the wrong information, as Norman will be playing the Mallorca Open, and not the BMW Open in Munich. But I have to say he has a tough since there might be a second round clash with his buddy, Gustavo Kuerten. Both have had a hip surgery, and it will be very interesting if they play! Good luck Nors! See the singles draw
04/16/02 A GREAT EFFORT BY MAGNUS (15/04/02) So it was a tough match to play against Thomas Johannson and Norman fought well, although losing 6-2, 6-7(4), 1-6. More updates will be available later! Read news WHAT A SURPRISING DRAW! (13/04/02) The Monte Carlo draw is out, and guess who Magnus is playing in the first round? The Australian Open champion and a great friend of Nors, Thomas Johannson. Let's hope he'll do well, and his injuries won't affect him! (12/04/02) Magnus will be skipping the grass season this year. Read the article for more detail... Check out an exclusive interview of Norman at www.supernorman.com! Nors talks about his injury and why he withdrawed from Casablanca! Don't miss it! (9/4/02) Magnus is not in the draw of the Casablanca tournament. He has probably withdrawn due to an injury he suffered from last week's tournament. Get well soon, Nors! NORMAN IN TUNISIA (4/4/02) Norman is playing a challenger event in Tunisia, a preparation for the clay court event in Casablanca. He defeated Marc Rosset in the opening round, and it was a tough match. But according to the draw, Norman retired, and his opponent Marc Lopez advanced without even playing. The reason for withdrawal is that he had a left leg injury. Hope you'll get well soon Magnus, and be able to compete next week. Norman has withdrewed from all single and double matches
